A 50-BORE PERCUSSION ALL-BRASS ALARM-GUN SIGNED HARRISON, serial no. 7,
circa 1850, with fixed 2 1/4in. barrel with central rear-facing nipple, the left hand side of breech signed 'HARRISON', integral brass body with simple central hammer retained by a hooked sear operated by a plate mounted in the wedge shaped rear portions, the whole fitted to an iron baseplate with hooked fore-piece
Other Notes: These little brass alarm-guns were designed for the wary traveller, who after booking into his lodgings for the night could set one of these up with a blank charge in such a manner so as the rear plate would be depressed on opening the bedroom door, firing the charge and therefore (hopefully) awakening the owner and scaring the intruder.
